There is no magic without the procedure. A golden faceplate aimed at a hole in the sky through which we are buried and baptized in a breath. Our skin bruised and stitched, our bones acquainted. Ghosts have always been there, we just haven’t noticed them, what with the turtles as green as heaven, and the roosters rousing us from dreams. There is no magic without the procedure.
