Welcome to The Deadlands

Our latest issue, with guest fiction editor Vajra Chandrasekera, has fiction from Malena Salazar Maciá, Testimony Odey, Erin Ulm, Laila Amado, Jason Pearce, Kat Sedia, and Scott Payne; poetry from Belle Biscotti, Shana Ross, R.B. Lemberg, Ellen Romano; and nonfiction from Matthew Wollin.

The dome’s interior is an endless summer sky. The eye is lured downward from the bright, cloudless horizon to the swaying bustle of wheat. The interminable fields themselves are intersected with soft, grassy paths, just wide enough for two to walk hand in hand. Merely by looking at the natural splendor rendered in vibrant blue, gold, and green, one could almost feel the welcome radiance of warm sunlight upon their skin.

“Liminalities of the Second Contraction,” by Scott Payne

About The Deadlands

The Deadlands is a quarterly speculative fiction magazine. We publish short stories, poems, and essays about the other realms, of the ends we face here, and the beginnings we find elsewhere. It is an adventure into the unknown, to meet those who live there still, even though they may be dead. Death is a journey we all will take, but we’d like to peek at the map before we go.
