Novella Announcement: A Voice Calling, By Christopher Barzak

A Voice Calling is an obsessive tale of a family haunted by a very terrible house.

Psychopomp is excited to announce that we have acquired Christopher Barzak’s novella A Voice Calling, edited by E. Catherine Tobler, for publication autumn 2023.

A Voice Calling:

In small towns, everyone knows everyone else’s secrets, even the secrets of the dead. Despite the open secrets of Button House—a source of scorn and gossip across generations—its origins have escaped collective memory. Now, Button House—a place that has tormented the families within its walls—will come undone when Rose Addleson marries into its domain, and dares seek the voice that has called her to it.

From the Publisher:

I first reached out to Christopher when I was preparing for The Deadlands Kickstarter last September. I asked him and several other talented authors to submit a one sentence story about death to help promote the Kickstarter. After he submitted an absolutely amazing sentence (which you can check out here), I took a big swing and asked if he’d be interested in writing a novella for a new indie press I was working on. Christopher has long been one of my favorite authors, and it is an honor to work with him on Psychopomp’s first novella.
